Another ode to you

Time flies and people move on. Sometimes people don’t. They stay right where they are. Some stay to cheer you on, some stay to bring you down. In my life, I’ve had both and as Lemmy Kilmister once said, they are both difficult to tell apart from each other. I am a staunch believer of the fact that your company reflects on you. The kind of people you share a bite with really influence your thoughts and your personality. Rulers lose, bosses blabber and the napoleon in rags blows his whistle at night.

If you’ve read this far, please bear with me, I promise it gets coherent.

What I am getting to is the fact that don’t let tough times bring you down. Adversity is a privilege, don’t take it for granted. Never take people for granted either, especially those who stay with you during testing times and cheer you on when you’re kissing the sky. Humans like those don’t come around very often. Irrespective of race, religion or caste, we as humans all want the same things. We want comfort, truth and peace. Justice is a whole different story. Justice is a myth. There is no justice.

I have learned in life that enjoyment and happiness seem to be found in the tiniest of things. From a perfectly boiled cup of tea to the simplest of dishes made by your mother. We all really do yearn for a house full of love, respect and affection. Some have it better than others and it is our duty as human beings to be kind and gentle.

Distances don’t mean much when there exists a strong sense of belonging amongst people. Catch all the flights you can, name as many airports as you want, happiness comes from within, not from things. Don’t jump of a roof if that makes you happy.

People say hospitals are sad places. Perhaps they haven’t sensed the melancholic chatter of airports where the whispers are louder than screams and the walls have heard more prayers than ICUs.

The uncertainty of life is what makes it beautiful. Living out of a bag teaches you that life’s a journey not a destination. Many of us think otherwise. They believe moving around is detrimental. My biggest fear, however, is becoming stationery because being stationary means becoming infinitely stagnant. Stagnant water becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes and gives birth to various diseases. A stationery life becomes meaningless. What’s life if there’s no progress?

Look up to the sky. It tells a similar story. Birds scream with all their might and the sky changes colours every day. It keeps moving and changing and progressing. Sometimes it cries but other times it shines bright. But don’t worry my friend, you weren’t made for the world, the world was made for you. In all its grandeur and might, it continues to serve you for you were created by the same power that created the beautiful canvas above us. That power is called different names by different people but most, if not all of those people understand the fact that humanity is the religion. Truth is virtue and hatred is a plague. If your religiosity makes you hostile and full of hatred then you might be doing something wrong. We all bleed the same blood and we all want one thing. Kindness.

Whether you like it or not, leaves will fall, the colours will change and the hearts will grow heavier.

So, take a step back, reinvent yourself, try something new and love unconditionally. But don’t forget to practise what you preach.

This isn’t a message about love and kindness. Kind and honest people I’ve met, never make it far in life. Those who hate, lie and treat others with disdain are the ones who make the most money.

But be an outlier instead, treat everyone with honesty, kindness and understand the notion that nature comes in full circle.

Be kind but don’t forget to stand up for yourself.
