Backing Arshad Nadeem

Arshad Nadeem’s recent performance at the World Athletics Championships did not deliver the medal many hoped for, as he ultimately finished 10th in the men’s javelin final. Yet, this result does not diminish the dedication and national pride that he continues to inspire. Nadeem has been dealing with an injury since early July which hampered his preparation and compromised his fitness level. But even under the burden of an injury, he pushed through and secured a place in the final with a throw of 85.28m.

For Pakistan, Nadeem’s story has already been enshrined in the halls of exceptional achievement. As the only athlete from Pakistan competing in track and field sports at this level, he shoulders immense responsibility on the global stage and also stands as the sole hope for many. Not long ago, he shattered the Olympic record in javelin at Paris 2024 with a massive 92.97m throw — a distance that surpassed the longstanding mark by over two meters. He has proven his capability as an athlete capable of world-class performance. That achievement and many before it show us not only what he can do but what he will do when he fully recovers. It is understandable that when injury intervenes, results don’t always follow expectations. But that perseverance is exactly what sets Nadeem apart and brands this as a moment of respect rather than of failure. He carried himself with humility, acknowledged the shortfall, thanked his well-wishers and pledged to come back even stronger.

As Pakistan’s pride and joy, Arshad Nadeem’s journey is not his alone but that of an entire nation. For this reason, it is imperative that the government and sporting authorities extend their full support in his recovery and training. There is little doubt that he will rise again to make Pakistan proud on the world stage.
